Peter had a great visit to Llangatwg Community School on Friday 9th November.  He presented Cameron Williams with his certificate after his design was selected as Peter’s official Christmas card and to Ellie Colwill who was a category winner.  Afterwards Peter was grilled by the School Council in a question and answer session.

Meeting with the School Council Peter was able to suggest ways that their project to link with and support a number of African Communities.

Peter was invited to the School Council meeting to draw on his first-hand experiences of living in South Africa and what it was like to grow up in a developing country. Peter also visited the health and fitness suite.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Presentation Evening

Llangatwg Community School recently held it’s eighteenth Annual Presentation Evening at the School Hall.

Over 300 awards of various size and nature were presented to the pupils of Llangatwg, in recognition of their hard work and effort throughout the past year. A total of 55 pupils gained District, County or National honours, having taken part in activities ranging from Archery to Table Tennis.

Receiving the main award for Young Achiever of the Year for 2007/8 was last year’s Head Girl Zoe Godding, in recognition of her outstanding academic ability, her examination success in gaining 10A* and 1 A grade at GCSE, and the contribution she made to the School community.

Councillor Des Davies and Mrs Ann Morgan presented the Resolven Millennium Award, to Cerith Pierce. This is a cash prize given to a pupil of the village who has excelled in various aspects of school life.

The Headteacher’s Award for his outstanding musical ability and commitment was awarded to this year’s Head Boy Luke Evans. Gavin Reynolds received the Examinations Award for his impressive GCSE achievement, and last year’s Head Boy Tim Cole was presented with the Community Award. Congratulations to all the pupils who received recognition of their hard work.
